The Curiosity Of The Dog

Jonathan loved dogs and felt affectionate towards the bigger dog, he even loosened his grip on the cute little vulnerable creature he had in his hands, carefully tucked in. He even allowed the dog to come closer to the monkey.

The labrador didn't show any signs of antagonism towards the creature which made Jonothan believe that the bigger dog won't harm the small creature. However, things didn't go as he thought because as soon as he opened the covers, the labrador, usually a calm and friendly dog bared his teeth and Jonothan was most surprised to see this side of the otherwise friendly dog.

The Labrador Was Growling in an Aggressive Way

Jonathan then realized that perhaps he had jumped the gun in introducing the dog to the monkey-like creature. The labrador then sniffed at the tiny animal for a second, before increasingly growing aggressive.

The labrador started to growl and showed her teeth before being quietened by the owner who put a warning hand on the collar of her pet. Immediately the dog quietened down, it is a well-trained dog after all. But it set Jonothan thinking, it is not a monkey, a dog so what is it?

Jonathan Began to Wonder

Jonathan watched in horror as he turned away from the bigger dog who was a bit agitated at the sight of the new creature, which he too couldn't make head or tail of it.

Jonathan couldn't stop himself from sighing in frustration, it was becoming clear that the creature that he had unwittingly rescued from the forest was not a puppy. So, what was it, it had Jonothan thinking, he also started thinking of what should he be doing. Keep it or return it to the forest, he decided on the latter as he already feels responsible for the poor creature.

The First Destination

Jonathan then closed his eyes silently hoping that a vet would answer some of the questions that had been bothering him for a while, perhaps the vet would have some answers to the questions.

Distracted, he stared straight ahead with a determined look, there has to be a certain change in plans. He simply couldn't put off the visit to the vet! He simply had to know the animal's true identity. Figuring out the animal's identity was priority number one for him. He was in luck that the lady offered to drop him off at the right time.

Going to the Waiting Room

They soon arrived at the vet and Jonothan breathed a huge sigh of relief. The lady wished him luck right before the building. After Jonothan contacted the front desk, he sat in the waiting room and kept the tiny creature in a comfortable position to avoid bothering the other animals in the office.

He thought of showing the receptionist the creature who couldn't throw much light on it too. It was a bizarre turn of events for Jonothan and try as he might, he couldn't find a name for the creature.

Jonothan Summoned to the Office

The receptionist saw that Jonothan was worried and decided to push him up the waiting list because the animal looked in really bad condition and since the creature was suffering it may affect the other animals too.

Jonothan sat there in the waiting room worried and wondering what would the vet have to say about it. He prepared himself to wait for a long time and was quite shocked to hear his name spoken aloud in just a few minutes time. Perhaps the receptionist has given the doctor a heads-up.

The Vet Took Notes

Jonathan then held the creature in his hand carefully, ensuring the monkey does not get hurt and the Vet offered him a chair. He told about all the events happening today, not leaving out even a tiny detail.

The vet was all ears and listened in rapt attention even writing notes in the middle so that he does not miss out on even one point. The vet would sometimes stop him and ask key questions, but the meeting lasted for over ten minutes before Jonathan was asked to wait in the waiting room while he inspected the animal.

Jonathan Had Other Issues to Deal With

Jonothan felt a lot lighter when he kept the baby animal under the care of the vet. As it is Jonothan had a lot in his head, his missing car for instance. Jonathan called the police again to know an update on the investigations. But he was in for a shock as the call would be transferred to another department.

Jonothan did not know what to do, everything was working against him today. He didn't know what will happen if he didn't get his car back. He hoped the problems would be resolved sooner than later.

The Curious Case of the Broken Window

He was glad to know that the call was transferred because they had found her car! The police officer had discovered a car that had a broken window as described by him.

The police officer had stopped them for a routine check. When the driver couldn't come up with the right information, they immediately found out that it was the thief, and the car was immediately taken into custody, and Jonathan immediately heard about it a few moments later! He was pretty relieved, losing his car had him worried sick.

He hung up the Call

Jonathan was also pretty surprised to hear all the information about it, but he was glad to know that his car was recovered and no major harm was done to the car.

However, there are a few steps that he still needed to take to release the car also he needed to get the insurance money. He was just planning to go and get his car when he felt someone urgently calling him. In fact, it was none other than the vet, who was vying for his attention. Jonothan suddenly felt his heart thumping, now what could be the matter?

Things Get Weirder

Jonathan then rounded his conversation with the cops quickly. He was actually a bit confused by the way the doctor was looking at him, perhaps the doctor had something to speak to him about.

The doctor had something very strange to him, which surprised Jonothan further. He said, perhaps it was his fault, but in his quest to do something good, he had in fact committed a big mistake as he brought his animal here. Jonothan felt that his heart was indeed sinking. Now, what had he committed that could be detrimental to him or someone else for that matter?

The Vet is Worried And Here's Why

Jonathan sported a rather defeated look, he felt even more dejected as the doctor explained what exactly was wrong with the baby creature. Actually, the little animal had indeed landed in a difficult situation, and the doctor at this stage could not do anything for the poor animal.

However, it wasn't as if he was to be blamed. In the current position that the animal was in, he posed a great danger to the other animals. What could have happened to the poor creature? He was completely clueless.

Infected With a Contagious Virus

The doctor then explained that the animal was infected with a very contagious virus that affects smaller mammals. Not only was the disease contagious it was also it can turn fatal if it does not get caught on time.

This was the reason why the baby super glider Jonathan had found was sick and looked so vulnerable. Poor Jonathan was flabbergasted and didn't know what to do. He felt partly guilty too that he had potentially brought the disease to the other vulnerable animals in the clinic.

It Was Not a Monkey

Jonathan was very surprised, in fact, his eyes looked round like saucers, but he was very curious. But one of his primary questions was answered what kind of animal has he rescued? It was actually a super glider.

He marveled over the fact that he had been thinking it to be a monkey or dog when it was neither. He had thought of so many things but it actually turned out to be a super glider. The vet didn't stop at that, he started explaining about the animal.

Super gliders Were Infected With a Virus

The virus the super glider was infected with was something very rare. In fact, the doctor has been studying it for the past few weeks.

It has recently peaked in the area, and although it was supposed to affect mainly. raccoons, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters,  and such animals were all susceptible to it. No wonder the small and vulnerable animal, the super glider has also been affected. Now, it was up to the doctor to save the little creature.

Isolating the Baby Super Glider

Jonathan was feeling a tad bit guilty about the whole episode but the doctor was up to the task and knew exactly what was to be done and got back to work.

He next explained that he has already isolated the super glider at the back of the shop. However, both the vet and Jonothan had to disinfect themselves and get a new set of clothes and a shower to ensure the virus does not spread to the other animals. They needed to do it as soon as possible.

No Risk of Contracting the Virus

Jonathan was in luck and so was the rest of the staff of the clinic, that they were not at any risk of contracting the virus, as humans were not prone to the virus.

This made Jonathan feel a tad bit better, but the doctor explained that even after they showered shower the other animals would need to be tested again for safety as only showering won't help them get rid of all the germs. They had to follow certain protocols to ensure that the other animals were not affected.

They Test Negative

A few hours later, all the tests were done and the doctor was feeling relieved that all the other animals were safe. The doctor stepped back to announce that all the other animals had also tested negative. There were other people in the clinic who were also relieved that their animals were safe.

The day turned out to be really strange and eventful and Jonathan kept wondering about the day and the surprises that he met along the way.

It Belongs to the Forest

As he thought about the entire day he thought that it would have been better if the baby super glider was left in the forest. But at that moment, leaving behind a baby animal was not something that he wanted to do. And given a second chance, he would perhaps do the same thing again.

He again felt a strong connection with the super glider and wanted to ensure that the super glider would be able to survive the virus. He continued to be in touch with the vet to get updates about the super glider. Thankfully he got a call after a few weeks.

There was More News on the Way

It was the vet who called him. The vet told Jonathan that he had a fresh update about the super glider and that he should drop everything and come to the hospital right now.

Jonathan was at work but he somehow felt responsible for the super glider and went to the hospital anyway. He got his bag and drove to the hospital. Although he was on tenterhooks as to what would the doctor tell him, he still went there to know all the details.

Off to the Vet

Jonathan was worried about the super glider that he had rescued in the forest and drove to the vet as fast as his car would take him. He had a gut instinct that something was going to go wrong.

When he finally went to the vet, he again stayed back in the waiting room. He couldn't wait and started sweating. He couldn't fathom why he was feeling the way he was feeling. Then the vet walked right into the waiting room and Jonothan felt a deep sense of foreboding.

The Vet Was Concerned

Somehow with the tone that the vet was speaking in, he had a bit of worry laced in his voice. 'Please come in' the vet asked him to come in and just the tone of his voice made him nervous.

He didn't know exactly what to expect. The vet also had a concerned look on his face and he looked at Jonathan with a serious expression and asked him a startling question. It took him by surprise and he needed to take a little bit of time before he answered the doctor.

Now a Pet?

The doctor asked whether Jonothan saved a name for him. A name? Why would Jonothan think about a name for the super glider? There was a lull in the conversation as both of them were going through several thoughts in their minds. Consciously or unconsciously Jonothan had thought in his mind the name of the super glider, monkey. Yes, that's what he decided to call it.

As soon as he pronounced the name, the door opened and someone walked in. Jonothan got the good news that he was waiting for.

The Super Glider Was Safe and Healthy

The assistant walked inside with the super glider perched in the palm, yes it was that tiny.

The doctor then explained that the animal was recovering fast from the deadly virus and was getting stronger every day. But it still needed nurturing and hence it won't survive the wilderness. So the doctor had one important question to ask Jonothan which he had to answer with all honesty. Jonothan was happy, nervous, and excited about the whole thing. In fact, he wanted to shout yes, yes, and yes!

Taking Him Home

Then the vet asked Jonothan, whether Jonothan was ready to take him. Jonathan was in fact really happy at the prospect of taking the animal home. He had had various pets in the past but not one like the super glider before.

So, he didn't know whether he was the right person for it. He took a deep breath and said to the vet almost in the same breath that he would surely like to take the super glider with him. In fact, as he was saying it, he was feeling excited about it.

The Joyride

Jonathan was in fact really happy at the prospect of taking the little super glider home. In fact, he had formed a connection with  Monkey from day 1 and he and Jonathan had formed a connection that was difficult to break, in fact, they had become best friends. They also spent time playing.

When Monkey got really strong, Jonathan decided to take him out to play. But then suddenly something happened that Jonothan didn't expect at all.

No Sign of Monkey

In fact, Monkey climbed up a tree and suddenly he disappeared completely. Jonathan sat there for hours, he continued to look up the tree but there was no sign of the monkey.

He became clueless not knowing exactly what to do, he was there with him just a few hours before and now it was gone. Jonothan decided to wait there, but there was no sign of Monkey. Was Monkey attacked or did it hurt itself, he didn't know about it al all. After waiting for a few hours, he decided to head home.

Something Incredible Happened

The next day Jonathan returned back to the spot where he had lost his favorite pet, he hoped that Monkey would find him or he would find it.

Again he waited there for a few hours past and yet he couldn't find a single super glider. Jonathan was sorely disappointed and decided to get back home. He was on the verge of losing hope when something amazing happened and Jonothan almost said aloud, Thank God for small mercies! Because Monkey popped out of nowhere!

He Popped Out of Nowhere

Out of nowhere Monkey jumped out of the tree and was seen flying around. He started circling around Jonathan and eventually landed straight on his shoulder.

He stayed put on his shoulder to cuddle with Jonathan. Jonathan knew in an instant that it was a monkey. They headed back home. But there was something that started bothering him. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but there was something about it that was not right. He didn't know exactly what, but he had the gut instinct.

Monkey Better off in the Wild

Did Monkey feel homesick? Jonathan wondered whether keeping Monkey inside the four walls of a home was good for the creature, perhaps Monkey belong to the wild.

Jonathan then went back to Monkey. The two started playing again like the good old days. But Jonothan knew that perhaps it would be the last day of playing together. It was time that Monkey returned to the world that it truly belonged. It would break Jonothan's heart but he knew he had to do the same for Monkey's sake.

Releasing him

The next morning Jonathan brought Monkey back to the nearest tree in his backyard. With a heavy heart, he bid goodbye to Monkey, while it raced up the tree.

After a few minutes, he got lost among the thick foliage of the trees. Jonathan knew he had indeed made the right decision. That evening Jonathan decided to take a walk in the forest. It was the ritual he really loved and always loved to walk around the forest to clear his head and feel a lot calmer.

Walking Through the Forest

Jonathan preferred to walk through the forest on Thursday evenings. Perhaps in his heart, he wished to meet up with his friend, Monkey.

Unfortunately, this time around he couldn't find the super glider. Jonathan walked back home hoping he would spot his friend if he went around its usual haunts. He was feeling dejected as he was walking back to his abode, but suddenly out of nowhere, he spotted something prancing around in his garden. Was it Monkey? Jonothan's eyes lit up to see his pet running all around the garden.

Brought a Friend

It was indeed Monkey! But after he took another look, there was another creature. It was another super glider!? They were waiting for Jonathan to take care of them.

As soon as Jonathan opened his door and they scurried inside. Jonathan was suddenly very happy but another thought came to his mind, perhaps the super glider might have the virus that Monkey had had previously. Jonathan decided that it was time to visit the vet once again.

Returning to the Vet

Again, Jonathan paid a visit to the vet. This time there was an urgency in his voice and he was a lot more careful.

The vet rose to the occasion and decided to take action and immediately took a good look at the second super glider. Jonathan spent the time chaperoning Monkey in the waiting room, hoping the new friend did have the deadly virus. It would then become terribly complicated. Jonothan waited impatiently in the waiting room.

Finally Some Good news

The vet then called Jonathan back into his office. He had a good piece of news. The super glider was unaffected by any virus.

But after giving the second super glider another thorough examination, the vet didn't note a lot of similarities with Monkey. They were like brothers and sisters. Monkey returned to the forest with his sister in tow. The vet asked Jonathan if he wanted to take care of both the animals. It was a question that set Jonothan thinking.

Now New Friends Forever

Jonothan didn't have to think twice before he said yes, and brought both animals back home. They became bigger and stronger and lived a happy life with Jonothan.

Jonathan now had new friends to play with and the two creatures were so friendly that they became fast friends with other animals too. They were a cute sight as they scurried around the ground, playing their game happy and sprightly. Jonothan loved them to pieces and was not losing sight of them in a hurry. It was a tale that Jonothan often shared with his other friends who were surprised to know the entire story of the two super gliders.
